I had a lovely time at Greyfriars in Colchester. The outdoor terrace offered a perfect spot for drinks, adding a nice touch to our evenings. The decor felt traditional and really charming, creating an inviting atmosphere. Our room was spacious, featuring posh amenities like heated bathroom floors and complimentary drinks in the mini-bar. Breakfast options were amazing, with a variety of choices that tasted fantastic. The staff were all friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome throughout our stay. Check-in took a bit longer than expected, and there was an unmarked step entering the bathroom, which can be a safety concern. those were minor bumps in an otherwise enjoyable visit.

The outdoor terrace for drinks is lovely, and the attention to detail in decor really adds charm.
Roughed up a bit on cleanliness, though.

I had a lovely time here, especially enjoying the cozy atmosphere and the amazing food that left me craving for more! The sun terrace and the leisure room were perfect spots to unwind after a long day. The only hiccup was the slight delay in room service, but it didn't ruin my experience at all. 😊

So I was munching on this stellar pad thai nearby and it was a flavor bomb! Plus, the outdoor terrace for drinks was lovely and their traditional decor just hits different—so charming! The breakfast spread was also top-notch and as much as you wanted.
Had a bit of a hiccup when a maintenance bloke barged in while I was in the shower! Reception’s response felt a bit off, like they shrugged it off after apologizing. I expected more from such a lovely spot.

Perfect for a special occasion!
We celebrated our anniversary here and it was awesome! The room was super clean and spacious, with lovely rose petals. The bar staff were super friendly and the dinner was Michelin-star level delicious. Only hiccup was the wait for our canapes, which took way too long. Breakfast in bed was a sweet touch!

A Perfect Stay with Unmatched Hospitality
I had an amazing experience at this beautiful hotel, where the attention to detail in decor and the luxurious atmosphere truly made my stay special. The staff went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect, especially during breakfast, which featured an impressive variety of options, including scrumptious pancakes. While everything was wonderful, the tight parking situation could be improved to enhance the overall experience.

Unique stay with a lovely vibe
The place has such character and every room is different, which is awesome! We loved the dining area—those Moreno glass chandeliers were just wow. Our only bummer was the room felt a bit outdated, especially for what we paid. But breakfast was stellar, just what we needed to start the day.
